The show will be the PSA Stereo Sequence Exhibition and the show includes entries from Al Sieg, Linda Nygren, Bruno Braun, Pauline Fredrickson, Dennis Green and Lawrence Kaufman.

Upcoming meetings

The New Year has come and so it is in with the new! I hope you have had a nice holiday season.

We have two meetings coming up:

Wed., Jan 23rd, club member (and humorist) Richard Black will present a program on introducing stereo to art majors in college. Over the years, Richard has been given a class to budding artists about the power of stereo and its ability to be a medium of expression. He will talk about props that he uses as well as providing insights into the minds of America’s youths. This meeting will occur at 7:00 at the Penfield Library.

On *Thur*, Feb. 21st, we will meet at the *Brockport Library* to see this year’s Stereo Sequence Exhibit. More on this as I get details.

The Ruth Braman Room of the Penfield Public Library. The Penfield library is at 1985 Baird Road, Penfield, NY 14526. The building is about a half mile north of Route 441 and is located in a former elementary school. Route 441 connects to I-490 east of the “Can of Worms”.

Remembering Bill Ewald

Bill Davis wrote in the following:

Some of you may remember Bill Ewald, who was known as “Mr. Stereo” for his interest in the subject during his long career at Kodak. Bill presented a very interesting Keynote Speech at the 1996 NSA convention in Rochester.

Sadly, Bill passed away this past Saturday. Truly gone “Beyond Infinity” …

From Democrat & Chronicle web site:

Ewald, William “Bill”
Webster: November 10, 2007, age 85 years. Leaves his loving wife of 63 years, Betty; sons, Douglas of CO, Philip (Beverly) of Webster, Leonard (Carolyn Anderson) of CO, Robert (Stacey) of NJ; grandchildren, Jane and William; brother, Robert (Lillian) of PA; and many devoted friends. A graduate of the University of Rochester, where he lectured at the Institute of Optics. Navy service during WW II at Optical Shop, Submarine Base at Pearl Harbor. Thirty-eight years at Eastman Kodak as Senior Supervising Engineer with over 20 patents. Enjoyed life at Beachcove Island, Thousand Islands, Canada with his family which gave him much pleasure.

The family is exceedingly grateful for the dedicated, loving care given to Bill by the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home and Visiting Nurse Service. Memorial contributions may be made to United Church of Christ (570 Klem Rd., Webster, 14580) or American Diabetes Assn. (160 Allens Creek Rd., Rochester, NY 14618).

Pikes Peak Exhibition

Al Sieg won an H.M. for this image from the Carnival of Venice…

A fantastic image! I hope to see more at this month’s show…

Nov. Meeting (note the unusal date)

I hope you all have had a nice Summer and have spent some time taking stereo pictures. As usual, we start off our season with our a meeting devoted to “What I did on my Summer Vacation”. As usual with this meeting, the content will be supplied by you — the members! Al Sieg has already volunteered to bring his “Venice Carnival”.

Because the normal 3rd Wed. is right before Thanksgiving, we will have this meeting the week before. Unfortunately, Wed. was taken but Tuesday was open so we will have this meeting Tuesdsay, Nov. 13th. We will be meeting at the Seymour Library in Brockport at 7:00.

See you there — in 3 dimensions!

May Meeting - Hall of Fame VI

Our May meeting will be back at the Penfield Library. Due to scheduling constraints, it will take place on the 4th Wed. (and not the 3rd Wed.). We will be showing Stereo Hall of Fame VI, which I understand includes some celebrity pictures.

Also, the ISU has sent me quite a few extra copied of their magazine,  Stereoscopy, for distribution and to raise awarenesss of their fine publication.  I will have them available at the meeting.

April Meeting - Digital Projection

Greetings from the 3rd Dimension!

As if 3-D were not enough, this month we go to the 4th dimension (time) and the 5th D (digital). This month we are going to be presenting a socko program in digital polarized projection. We will be showing pictures from international collections on a variety of topics. We may even have some video to watch…

We will meet at our normal time: Wed. April 18 at 7:00pm but….

*note special location* Because moving the equipment (especially the screen) to the anywhere else turns out to be a large task, we are moving to the equipment! As we did the last digital night, we will be meeting at Bldg. 128 of Xerox in Webster.

Directions: From the City of Rochester, take Route 104 and exit at Phillips Road. Turn North (left) onto Phillips Rd. Go over the railroad tracks and turn right at the light [San Jose Drive] (about one block). Turn at the first left, a parking lot (about one block) and park. Come to the entrance and we will sign you in.

See you 3, 4 or 5-space!

Feb. Meeting

This month we will be featuring the PSA Stereo Sequence Exhibition. Now in it’s 43rd year, the Sequence Show contains a series of slide “suites”– each one containing a group of stereo images that are related. Some tell a story, some are affiliated by location, and some are related through style. There is always something there for everybody!

I would be remiss in not mentioned that this show has two sequences created by local stereographer Al Sieg: “Waterfalls of Plitvice Lakes” (Croatia) and “The Last Spike” (Utah).
Our meeting will occur on Feb. 21st at the Brockport Library at 7:00. You can come earlier to socialize, it you want.

Jan. Meeting

The program for this month’s meeting will take place on Wed., Jan. 17th. The program will be provided by club member Jim Dusen. Jim, who is an award-winning professional photographer, will be showing slides of his trips to the western US. Those of you who remember his previous shows know the quality of his work.

This program will be in the Ruth Braman Room of the Penfield Public Library. The Penfield Library is at 1985 Baird Road, Penfield, NY 14526. The building is about a half mile north of Route 441 and is located in a former elementary school. Route 441 connects to I-490 east of the “Can of Worms”. A coffee bar in the lobby is open until 8:00pm for your enjoyment.
