We will be showing the PSA Stereo Sequence Exhibit on March 4th, 2010 at 7:00. The exhibition will take place at the Seymour Union of SUNY Brockport. The stereo sequence will show the best of master photographers.

On the PSA web site, the Stereo Sequence Exhibit is described in more detail:

A sequence or photo essay is a group of from 2 to 18 stereo slides with a written text. Sequences might more properly be called photo essays, photo-poems or songs, photo stories, mood pieces, or sermonettes. They are vehicles for conveying something from the mind of the maker to others more effectively than is possible with a single slide.

A map with parking is shown below:

One of the nice things about our club is that we talk about pictures we have taken or things that we have built — not what we bought.

However, I think we would be remiss to not mention a major landmark that occurred this fall: a digital stereo camera from a major manufacturer. I am talking about the Fuji FinePix REAL 3D W1.

http://www.fujifilm.com/products/3d/

It its short life (it went on sale Oct. 1st in the US), the e-mail list devoted to it has seen over 2,000 messages. There is a lot of excitement. While it may not have the quality that some desire and while it many not have the price some desire, it is generally regarded as being a very fun camera to use.

I know that a couple of club members have this camera and I propose that we have a meeting with the W1 as the topic. I have the Penfield Library for Thursday, Jan 28th, 2010.

If you own this camera (and/or its picture frame), please let Lee know before the meeting.

Greetings from the 3rd Dimension!

As if 3-D were not enough, this month we go to the 4th dimension (time) and the 5th D (digital). This month we are going to be presenting a program in digital polarized projection. We will be showing pictures from a variety of slide collections including Moxon of Australia and Whitehouse of England. We will also be projecting video from Germany, USA, England, and other places. We have new projectors, new optics, new computer, and the same great rear-projection screen.

We will meet: Wed. April 15th (tax day!) at 7:00pm but not at a library!

We will be meeting at Xerox in Webster (bldg. 128). Directions: take Route 104 to Phillips Road (if coming from Rochester). Turn North (left) onto Phillips Rd. Go over the railroad tracks and turn right at the light [San Jose Drive] (about one block). Turn at the first left into the first parking lot park. Come to the entrance and we will sign you in. Due to the door process to get you in, we ask you try to be there at 7:00m.

Also in 3-D this month — MONSTERS VS. ALIENS

The New Year has come and so it is in with the new! I hope you have had a nice holiday season.

We have two meetings coming up:

Wed., Jan 23rd, club member (and humorist) Richard Black will present a program on introducing stereo to art majors in college. Over the years, Richard has been given a class to budding artists about the power of stereo and its ability to be a medium of expression. He will talk about props that he uses as well as providing insights into the minds of America’s youths. This meeting will occur at 7:00 at the Penfield Library.

On *Thur*, Feb. 21st, we will meet at the *Brockport Library* to see this year’s Stereo Sequence Exhibit. More on this as I get details.

The Ruth Braman Room of the Penfield Public Library. The Penfield library is at 1985 Baird Road, Penfield, NY 14526. The building is about a half mile north of Route 441 and is located in a former elementary school. Route 441 connects to I-490 east of the “Can of Worms”.
